Punts de retorn

Recordo l'edredó que ens va fer l'àvia per a tots els nets. Cadascun era diferent i tots els va cosir a mà. De petita quan arribava el fred em posava l'edredó damunt dels llençols i, abans de dormir, observava tots els detalls de la peça. M'agradava imaginar-me històries a partir dels diferents dibuixos i personatges que hi havia cosits. Aquell edredó sempre em feia pensar en l'àvia. La tela era suau i abrigava; em donava caliu.

Punts de retorn (2023-2024) sorgeix del recorregut que l’artista fa del present al passat, i viceversa, i es vincula subtilment als records que engendra la seva família d’arrels terrassenques amb el treball tèxtil. A partir del relat i la memòria familiar de diferents generacions es recuperen històries connectades amb la quotidianitat, el treball i l’artesania, i totes tenen lloc a la mateixa ciutat. Al mateix temps, a poc a poc, es va creant una constel·lació de línies que marquen el registre de les accions diàries fetes pels diferents carrers de la ciutat.

El títol del projecte fa referència a tot viatge que té tornada, i que habitualment forma part del nostre dia a dia. El viatge quotidià és aquell que ens porta d’un punt a un altre sabent que hi haurà un retorn, moltes vegades al mateix punt de partida. És així com cadascú pot interpretar el punt de retorn de maneres diferents, sigui en alguns casos un habitatge o en molts d’altres algú qui considerem família.

I remember the quilt that our grandmother made for all the grandchildren. Each one was different and she sewed them all by hand. When I was little and the cold came, I would put the quilt on top of the sheets, and before sleeping, I would observe all the details of the piece. I liked to imagine stories based on the different drawings and characters that were sewn onto it. That quilt always made me think of grandma. The fabric was soft and warm; it was giving me comfort.

Punts de retorn (2023-2024) arises from the artist's journey from present to past, and vice versa, subtly linked to the memories generated by their family of Terrassa roots with textile work. From the narrative and family memory of different generations, stories connected to everyday life, work, and craftsmanship are recovered, all taking place in the same city. At the same time, slowly but surely, a constellation of lines is created, marking the record of daily actions taken on the different streets of the city.

The project's title refers to any journey that has a return, which typically forms part of our daily lives. The daily journey is the one that takes us from one point to another knowing that there will be a return, often to the same starting point. This is how everyone can interpret the point of return in different ways, whether in some cases it's a home or in many others someone we consider family.
